The United States Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island Earns Top Project of the Year Award from Environment + Energy Leader

Ameresco Federal Solutions team will be recognized at virtual awards summit for advanced energy resilience project at U.S. Marine Corps base

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Ameresco, Inc., (NYSE: AMRC), a leading energy efficiency and renewable energy company, today announced that its work at the United States Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island has received a Top Project of the Year Award in the Environment + Energy Leader Awards program. Organized annually, the program’s expert judges identified the MCRD Parris Island project as a leading example of the innovative work being done today in the fields of energy and environmental management.

In June 2019, Ameresco completed a comprehensive energy resiliency project at the MCRD Parris Island, which included the development of distributed generation, energy storage, and secure microgrid controls. The MCRD Parris Island is responsible for training more than 20,000 recruits annually and its operations are mission-critical for preserving national security.

“With rapid advancements and a near-constant rate of change in the field, sustainability and energy professionals had to prove to our judges that they were really the best of the best this year,” says Sarah Roberts, Environment + Energy Leader publisher.

One judge said of the Parris Island project, "This showcases the success of a very large project that completed a comprehensive energy infrastructure project with the overarching goal of optimizing energy resiliency.”

In tandem with its Top Project of the Year win, Ameresco will participate in the Environment + Energy Leader Awards Summit on Tuesday, July 21, 2020. During a half-hour session, scheduled to air at 2:30 p.m. ET, Nicole Bulgarino, EVP and General Manager, Federal Solutions at Ameresco, will share how the project at Parris Island came to be, lessons learned, and the successes to-date in their mission to achieve critical campus resiliency and sustainability goals. Interested attendees can register for the session titled Mission Critical Operations: Achieving Energy Resiliency on Campus at US MCRD Parris Island, here.

“The project we completed at Parris Island is exceptional and has dramatically increased the resilience of the base’s energy network,” said Ameresco’s Nicole Bulgarino. “While we are honored that our work has been recognized for its excellence by E+E judges, we are most proud that we have been able to support the mission of the U.S. Marine Corps and ensure that the important activities that take place there may continue for time to come.”
