Dallas Mayor Leppert, City Council to Join Ameresco and Dallas Water Utilities in Opening of Innovative Biogas Energy Recovery Facility

Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert, members of the Dallas City Council, Dallas What: Water Utilities (DWU) Administrators, Ameresco Executive Michael T. Bakas, and other local officials and business leaders will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on a 4.3 MW biogas capture and refining facility. The new biogas plant will generate electricity and thermal load to power DWU's facilities. The plant will offset the electricity that DWU currently pulls from the grid, and DWU has the option to sell the generated electricity back into the grid. Ameresco was chosen by Dallas to design, build and operate the plant, expected to save the City at least $1.5 million annually, and designed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 19,150 metric tons annually.
